Another of my favourite childhood (and adult) stories: The Count of Monte Christo'. This book has been made into countless films and television series. It's hard to imagine how they could improve upon the latest versions, save to 3D the production. It's a great tale about being wrongly imprisoned by corrupt officials and the hero extolling his revenge after escaping from prison having learned of a great treasure. The plot is not that far removed from: The Mark of Zorro stories in its basic theme, geographical location apart.
