Photon 2 - Team Photon’s mission is to design and to build a high-performance boat in power and endurance. The only energy source used is solar energy since it is free and renewable. Using solar panels, this energy can easily be converted to electric energy and stored in batteries. Also, this project will contribute greatly to non-polluting boats studies. In that way, Photon will contribute to improve sea and sea borders environment quality by reducing noise. This project combines different techniques of design and realisation (studies of fluids mechanics, composites materials, electronic of power, computer sciences and more). With the collaboration of all team members, each person is responsible for a specific part (mechanic or electric). Our efforts are concentrated mainly on the design of the hull, the direction, the conversion of solar energy to electric energy and the optimisation of the boat’s power. A solar powered vehicle like Photon is quite simple.
The only difference with a standard vehicle is the solar energy
used.
