What was all the banging about?  "Just Nelson working on another of his ideas dear," said Jillian, his understanding mother.  "But it's 2:00 in the morning" said Frank.  Nelson's father was in the construction business.  He had another hectic day in London to look forward to and needed a good nights rest.  It was quite usual to hear banging coming from their son's workshop at all hours of the day and night.  But really.  Nelson heard his dad's roar and took the hint, shut off the lights and quietly crept upstairs to bed.  His latest creation was a primitive forerunner of the Jet-ski.  Nelson attended the Eastbourne College of Further Education by day, he was 17.  He was studying engineering, but his heart wasn't really in it.  He just wanted to make things.  Engineering was the boring stuff and he was having trouble with maths.

Later on Nelson would realise he needed to learn a whole lot more than his college tutors could teach him.  So what, he liked finding things out for himself......................
